Y6 Poetry Slam!

Y6 Poetry Slam!

Today Year 6 held a poetry slam and shared some of the spoken word poetry they have been writing. Ms Finer came along to judge our poems. The quality of the poems was excellent – all of the children had chosen to write about something very personal or serious that they felt strongly about. Listening to their poems was very moving! Ms Finer was impressed with the performance, openness, maturity and empathy of Yer 6’s poems.

She chose these children to receive special commendations for their poems: Mia (6ER), Siena (6ER), Chloe (6TJM), Karifala (6TJM), Youseph (6TJM) and Al-Bahra (6TJM).

However, overall Ms Finer selected Evie as our Poetry Slam Champion for her poem which imagined what it would be like to have depression. Ms Finer was stunned by the empathy and expressiveness that Evie had demonstrated in her poem.

Well done to all of the children in Year 6 for writing such excellent poems. And an extra special well done to all of the children who chose to perform theirs today.
