Well done to the girls who won 3-0 in their football match earlier this week. The training, determination and team work paid off!

Football & Netball Leagues Well done to the football team who had a great game against Oratory last Tuesday Even though they lost 1-0. The netball team done fantastically well for their first ever match! They were determined all the way through the game even when Ashburnham scored 5 goals. This week they drew against Park Walk, and the whole team were delighted. Well done to both teams!

7-0 to Marlborough! Well done to the football team who had a great start to the season with a 7—0 win against St Joseph’s this week! Brendan scored 4 goals and Arian scored 3 – Well done to both boys and to the whole team.

Marlborough’s final league game and another win, just!

Marlborough (3) v Bousfield 2 (2)

Scorers: Cleveland 3

Marlborough concluded their year 5 league campaign with a 3-2 victory over a determined Bousfield side. A first half hat-trick from Cleveland gave us a 3-0 advantage but Bousfield refused to give up without a fight, two second half goals made it an anxious last few minutes for us. We have remained unbeaten recording five wins and a draw from our six league games played which should see us qualify for the borough playoffs next week!

Back to winning ways!

Marlborough (5) v Oratory 2 (1)

Scorers: Arian 2, Brendan 2, Cleveland.

After last week 2-2 result the team responded with another very good team performance. I decided to add Adem to the squad as our goalkeeper and we welcomed back Levi too. This ensured that there would be competition for places in the team and the players responded in the right way. Arian’s early shot proved too hot to handle for the Oratory goalkeeper and gave us a 1-0 advantage. He soon added a second goal with another powerful drive that made it 2-0. Oratory battled back to make it 2-1 before a brace from Brendan (two goals) and the goal of the game from Cleveland, swivelling to shoot across the goalkeeper into the far corner of the goal to give Marlborough a well deserved 5-1 victory.

MOM: Arian.

Marlborough 2 St Cuthberts 2

Own Goal, Brendan

Our 100% record is over but we did managed to hold onto a respectful 2-2 draw. To date we have been on an amazing winning run against teams with, in my opinion, better individual players.

Yesterday we let a two goal advantage go with a couple of bad decisions in our defending. We went two goals ahead with a own goal from a St. Cuthbert player and a well taken goal by Brendan. At half time we retained the two nil scoreline. In the second half St. Cuthbert came more into the game and score two make it 2-1. With 1 minute to go they scored to equalise, 2-2.

The team is doing incredibly well, it is a testament of their desire to do well that they were very disappointed to draw the game.

We will see how they respond in the next game!

Marlborough 4 v Christchurch 2

Scorers: Brendan 3 Cleveland 1

The team is going from strength to strength as this was our most impressive performance to date against a very good Christchurch team. It’s so refreshing to see the confidence and belief that the team has gained throughout the last few weeks. We have a little friendly banter walking down to the games each week as I promised the boys sweets if they won their first game, then it was double or quits for the second game and yesterday they were actually trying to predict how many they would win by!

Initially they asked what they would get if they won 10-0 and I told them to forget sweets, if they won 10-0 I’d organise a slap up meal at a venue of their choice. We finally settled with a 5-0 scoreline and after 4 minutes we were 2-0 ahead and I was starting to think they might do this! We gave away a really soft goal but showed a lot of character to go on to a convincing 4-2 victory!!!

The boys deserve a lot of praise for this performance!
