On Thursday 10th December, Year 6 visited the RAF Museum. We have been learning about World War II and so this was a great opportunity to see some of the planes we have read about. Then, we were sent inside a wartime classroom where we became 1940s school children for a short while.
We had to put together our own gas mask boxes and carry them with us at all time. We had to wear an evacuee label and carry our National Identity Card. We also did some handwriting and some arithmetic using fountain pens that we had to dip in the inkwells in our desk. They were very tricky to write with! The teacher was extremely strict and at one point she even caned someone!
The day was a lot of fun and we learned a lot about life as a schoolchild during the Blitz.
